Oreck Commercial XL2100RHS 12" Lightweight Upright Bagged Vacuum Cleaner
You’ve never had a heavy duty vacuum cleaner that weighed so little. This Oreck Commercial is only 8 pounds, but it is definitely a high-capacity, high-speed vacuum cleaner. The balanced double-helix brushes turn at 6500 rpms and are made to clean any surface–wood, carpet, tile or cement and bare floors. It has ample capacity at 9 quarts and is 12” wide so it can do large swaths at a time.
It is a corded vacuum, with a cord length of 35 feet which is good but not our favorite. Still, it is one of the best upright vacuums for commercial use around.
Sanitaire Tradition Upright Bagged Commercial Vacuum, SC886G
If you want to talk about the lifespan of a commercial vacuum, this vacuum is rated at 2000 hours, which is five times the rating of the average household vacuum. It is also an upright, but this behemoth comes in at an 18 quart capacity. It’s wide, too, at 17.3”, so you can really knock out a room or office in minutes.
One of the best parts is that it has a power cord with a 50 foot reach. And if you’re asking “are commercial vacuums better” the answer with this one is absolutely yes. But, you don’t even need to work for a janitorial company to get your hands on this thing.

Sanitaire Professional Bagless Upright Commercial Vacuum with Tools, SL4410A
If you want to abandon bags altogether, you can do just that with this Sanitaire commercial vacuum. Clean, large, and with no need to change the bag you don’t need to keep ordering new ones and replacing the filter.
There is one downside to the bagless. The cup that catches the dust and debris is only one quart, meaning that you’ll be taking this industrial vacuum to the garbage bin more often, but for most work, even if you’re cleaning an office, you won’t need to empty it more than once (unless it’s Bring Your Pet To Work Day).
The power cord on this one is only 30 feet, which is less than ideal, but it’s also the cheapest commercial vacuum cleaner that we’ve looked at yet at under $200. And it’s got a 13” cleaning path and five height adjustment settings for different types of floors.

The first backpack (and the best backpack) vacuum that we’re looking at is this Hoover. It’s lightweight at just eight pounds so it’s not a burden for even small people to carry, and it’s got a 60” long positive locking hose. This is the ideal vacuum if you’ve got to clean in and around a lot of things, including cubicles, desks, couches and chairs.
The harness was designed by a chiropractor to make sure that it’s ergonomic and with a 48 foot long cord, it’s excellent for going just about anywhere. This is especially useful if you’re cleaning an office and need to vacuum sofas and plush chairs as well as the floor.
Bissell, Red, MultiClean Wet/Dry Garage and Auto Vacuum Cleaner
Our final industrial vacuum cleaner is this excellent wet/dry vac. Its capacity isn’t measured in quarts but in gallons, and it can hold 6 of them, so you’ve got a lot to work with. In addition to its suction, it also has a blowing function, so you can clean a porch or driveway off with no trouble, wet or dry.
Six precision attachments make this easy to use, and it has a 2 stage filtration system means to extend the life of the filter. Perfect for floor care jobs big or small.
